Firewood in Hours Instead of Weeks

Das problem

If you cut your own firewood, you know how it is:

First, the wood must be cut to meter lengths with a chainsaw. Then comes splitting with a hydraulic splitter, followed by cutting to stove length with a band or circular saw, and finally loading the split wood. These four steps not only consume a lot of time but also require effort and nerves—often spanning several weekends.

your benefits

This is where the MEHOMA 4-in-1 method comes into play:

Cutting to length, splitting, bringing to stove length, and loading—all in one operation—quickly, efficiently, and directly into the trailer or BigBag. The Spaltmeister handles all steps simultaneously, accomplishing in one day what would otherwise take several weeks.

No Hydraulics

Hydraulic splitters are often prone to repairs. Since our system is so simple, there are virtually no sources of error.

Only 1.6M Wide

With the conveyor belt folded, you can easily drive on a normal road without worrying about excess width.

3.4m Conveyor Belt

Your freshly split wood goes where it should; into the Big Bag, the trailer, or simply onto a pile.

680kg Weight

At only 680kg, the Spaltmeister is light and can be quickly moved to the right spot. Stable stand for every task—and light enough for any tractor.

35hp Minimum

Your tractor only needs a minimum of 35hp. Don't worry, if you ever need to split particularly tough wood, your tractor will simply stall without causing damage.

Max. 540 RPM

Ready for use at just 300 RPM—the 540 PTO is entirely sufficient. The Spaltmeister operates in an economical speed range, saving fuel—ideal for efficient work with any standard tractor.

The 4-in-1 Method – Instead of Handling It Four Times

With the Spaltmeister, you complete everything in one operation—from round wood to fully loaded firewood. No rearranging. No reworking. Simply attach, start, and prepare your wood supply for the entire winter in one day.

100 Cubic Meters in One Weekend Knäcke processes 100 cubic meters of firewood per weekend with the Spaltmeister – faster, cleaner, and with less waste than traditional methods. Even the offcuts are put to use as kindling.

Who is mehoma?

We are Freya and Johannes – a family with a house, a farm, kids, and little time. As dedicated wood burners, we know: making firewood with conventional equipment takes weeks – time that's often missing in everyday life.

Since the bark beetle infestation, we’ve mainly been left with thin wood – hard to process but far too valuable to waste. Johannes brings years of experience as a forester – today, we manage our forest sustainably for our family and the generations to come.

In 2022, we discovered a machine concept in the Baltics that fascinated us: the firewood was ready in one day – but the quality wasn’t right. So we developed a new, practical solution together with a machine builder: the MEHOMA Spaltmeister 3400.

MEHOMA stands for “MEin HOlz MAchen” – "Make My Wood" – efficient, well thought-out, and joyful. What used to take three weeks, we now get done in a single day. And the best part: we’re sharing this solution.

So that more people can get rid of the stress around firewood – and gain back time for living.

"Our generation needs practical solutions to truly shape life in the countryside."

faq

frequently asked questions

How long do the blades last, and how often do they need sharpening?

The blades are made from Hardox 600 – highly wear-resistant and built for continuous use. Under normal firewood conditions, they’ll last for many years. Depending on the wood and frequency of use, a seasonal check and light touch-up sharpening are usually all it takes.

Can I use it on wood with nails or stones in it?

Absolutely! Since there’s no saw to dull, the Hardox 600 blades handle nails and small stones with ease – ideal for turning demolition wood into clean, ready-to-burn firewood.

I have special requirements or need accessories – is that possible?

Yes, of course! Just write to us using the contact form and tell us what you need. We’ll get back to you promptly and find the best solution together.

Can I try it out?

Sure! You can visit us anytime by appointment in 98743 Gräfenthal. Too far? Contact us – we’ll gladly arrange a demo appointment near you.

Is there a warranty?

Yes – 1 year for professional users, 2 years for private users. And even after that, we won’t leave you hanging: spare parts are available, help is fast, and our know-how is always included for free.

Is it possible to rent a machine to make my firewood?

Yes, in many cases! Contact us – often our demo units are available for rent, and some of our customers also offer their Spaltmeister for rental.

I have another question

No problem – we’re happy to help! Just send us your question via the contact form. We’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

Why no hydraulics?

Because it's simpler and safer: The Spaltmeister runs on any PTO - no matter how old the tractor. No hydraulics, no oil, no hoses, no leaks. Just pure mechanics: robust, reliable, and easy to maintain.

Why is there no feed belt?

Because in many cases, it causes more trouble than it’s worth: feed belts wear out quickly, are costly to replace, and struggle with crooked or poorly debranched logs. They also limit flexibility – you can’t trim thin wood manually or rotate logs to quarter thick pieces. And that’s exactly where the Spaltmeister shines: maximum control, maximum versatility.

How big is the Spaltmeister?

Compact and garage-friendly: in transport mode, it measures 1.60 m wide, 1.80 m long, and 1.90 m high. Without the feed hopper, it takes up just 1.60 × 1.10 m of floor space.

How heavy is the Spaltmeister?

It weighs 680 kg. Its solid build ensures a stable stand – even without being mounted to the tractor’s three-point hitch.

Does the wood bounce during processing?

No – not when used properly. If the wood is placed cleanly onto the blades, it moves only slightly and can be guided by hand. Noticeable bouncing typically only occurs if the blades are damaged or misaligned.

Can I process hardwood with it?

Yes – hardwoods like beech, oak, hornbeam, and maple can be processed continuously without issue. In Italy, one Spaltmeister is even in nonstop use processing holm oak.

Where do you deliver?

We deliver across the entire EU – directly to your property, thanks to our trusted logistics partner.

How long does delivery take?

A maximum of 14 days – often even faster.

Does it create a lot of splinters or waste?

The Spaltmeister doesn’t produce sawdust. Depending on the type and moisture of the wood, some splinters may result from splitting – but no more than with other methods. The minimal fine fraction is perfect for kindling, since it’s sawdust-free and dries quickly.
